Consent to ship

In some cases, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) require that CVS Caremark do the following:

  • Get your consent before mailing a refill
  • Contact you the first time a prescription is requested through mail order
  • Contact you if you have not used the mail-order service in the last 12 months and a prescription directly from your doctor is received

Mail-order history must be on the same health plan. If you received drugs by mail on another health plan, you will be required to give consent to ship until at least one fill occurs under your new plan. You can opt out of the mail-order service at any time by calling CVS Caremark customer care.
